Alan Wilshire

Founding Director

Alan helps pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies protect their most valuable capital programmes, identifying schedule risk before it becomes delay and delivering the schedule confidence that boards, regulators and lenders require.

With more than 30 years in planning, scheduling and project controls, he specialises in two things: schedule risk analysis and schedule quality review. Whether a programme is entering FEED, approaching FID or heading toward baseline, he provides the independent, expert perspective that internal teams and EPCMs can’t objectively provide for themselves.

His experience spans the full EPCMV lifecycle on GMP facilities, from early studies through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, qualification and start-up. He has led scheduling on some of Ireland’s largest life sciences investments, including BMS’s €1bn Cruiserath biologics facility, Wyeth’s €1.8bn Grange Castle campus and MSD’s award-winning Carlow facility, and has carried out more than 100 schedule risk assessments for Johnson & Johnson companies.

Alan works in Primavera P6 and Acumen Risk, and designs Insight’s own tools, including the Gantline lookahead board and the Insight Schedule Quality checker. He works with owners, CDMOs, EPC and EPCM contractors, independent technical advisors and project finance lenders, on programmes from €50m to over €1bn, and is preparing to speak at ISPE on schedule risk and P50/P75 decision-making.
